sezon, İzmir Karşıyaka’da bulunan bir sanatçı inisiyatifidir. sezon’un programları, sergiler, araştırma buluşmaları, kolektif alıştırmalar, yayınlar ve misafir sanatçı programı aracılığıyla işbirliğine dayalı üretim biçimlerini araştırır.
sezon yavaş bir yerdir. Burada gündelik olanla ve eldeki imkanla çalışılırken bilginin nasıl üretildiği, aidiyetin ve direnişin nasıl biçimlendiği birlikte düşünülür. İnsanlar olanak buldukça davet edilir ve program bu ritimle kurulur.
Hafıza, göç ve hareket özgürlüğü sezon’da gerçekleşen çalışmaların merkezindedir. Mekanda, 1950’li yıllarda Kuzey Makedonya’daki Vranofça (Gorno Vranovci) köyünden İzmir’e göç eden bir topluluğun katılımıyla oluşturulan Vranofça Arşivi kalıcı olarak yer alır. Karşı-arşivleme pratiklerine dayanan arşiv, sergiler, yemekler ve sohbetlerle her buluşmada genişlemeye devam eder.
2023 yılında sanatçı Betül Aksu tarafından kurulan sezon’da bugüne kadar “öncesi” sergisi, “Kıyılar”, “Kısa Mesafeler Kitaplığı 2” ve “Yani” araştırma projeleri, Macide Yalçınkaya ile Delal Eken’in misafir sanatçı dönemleri ve Vranofça Arşivi’nin sergileri gerçekleşti.
sezon, İzmir’e yolu düşen sanatçılar ve kültür çalışanları için hem geçici bir ev hem de bir araştırma alanıdır. Ziyaretler randevu iledir.

sezon is an artist-run space in Karşıyaka, İzmir. Its programme explores collaborative ways of working through exhibitions, research gatherings, collective exercises, publications and a residency programme.
sezon is a slow place. Working with the everyday and with what is at hand, it is a place to think together about how knowledge is produced and how belonging and resistance take shape. People are invited when resources allow, and the programme follows that rhythm.
Memory, migration and freedom of movement are at the centre of the work that takes place at sezon. The space is the permanent home of the Vranofça Archive, created with the participation of a community that migrated to İzmir in the 1950s from the village of Vranofça (Gorno Vranovci) in North Macedonia. Grounded in counter-archiving practices, the archive keeps growing with each gathering, through exhibitions, shared meals and conversations.
Founded in 2023 by artist Betül Aksu, sezon has so far been the setting for the exhibition “öncesi”; the research projects “Kıyılar”, “Short Distances Library 2” and “Yani”; residencies by Macide Yalçınkaya and Delal Eken; and the exhibitions of the Vranofça Archive.
sezon is both a temporary home and a place for research for artists and cultural workers passing through İzmir. Visits by appointment.
